The German-British-Association was founded on 23rd June 1999 on the initiative of the Peter Alderath. At the moment we have got about 40 members. We are a charitable organization aiming at a better understanding between the two countries. Together with the town council of Filderstadt we organize annual visits between Selby and Filderstadt to get a better understanding of each others ways of life and to improve the english language.
About 20 - 30 persons take part in the visits. Private accommodation is provided on both sides on our annual visits. A lot of friendships have been formed over the years. On these trips excursions and get-togethers are organized for hosts and visitors alike to experience each others cultural differences. There is still enough time left for plans of your own or with your hosts or guests to get to know your new friends better.
A tradition is our "English Breakfast" - always in December on the date of the Plattenhardter Christmas-market. Our diligent kitchen assistants prepare a typical English breakfast with toast, beans, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, jam and ,of course, English tea.
We regularly organize evenings in cooperation with the VHS (Adult Education Center) with English topics.
Our regulars' table takes place in the Alte Mühle in Filderstadt-Bonlanden.
